History
We
have been making and serving our homemade Italian ice-cream here
at Rossis's since 1937. Our founder Fioravanti Figliolini moved
to England from Cantu just North of Rome in the 1920's. Having
learned the trade from fellow Italians he opened this parlour
in Weymouth, starting a long tradition of locally available quality
ice cream.
We
dont boast to have a secret recipe, it is just a case of getting
the mix right with the correct ingredients.
Skimmed
milk, sugar and a vegetable oil called hardened palm kernel oil
are mixed together in a 80-gallon vat and heated by gas in a process
that takes around six hours.
At
a later stage we will add real ingredients for the different flavours
other than plain ice-cream (chocolate, raspberry, coffee, coconut)
but no chemicals are used at any stage which makes the Rossi's
taste so special and draws thousands of people each year, locals
and visitors alike.
